Darnell Evans Nolin, a Chicago native, was born into a distinguished family that offered him opportunities beyond his imagination. As the nephew of the late Dr. Reverend Clay Evans and the grandson of the late Estes Evans Sr., a respected businessman on Chicago's Southside, Nolin was not exempt from the personal journey of discovering his true purpose. During his teenage years, he began touring with his uncle every summer, which sparked his passion for the music business. Nolin pursued his studies in Mass Communications and Music Media at Rust College, an HBCU in Holly Springs, Mississippi, which broadened his horizons.
In 2009, driven by his love for music and creativity, Nolin relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, known as Music City USA. There, he built crucial relationships with industry influencers, both creative and business-oriented. Through his entertainment management and consulting firm, Van Lin & the Co., Nolin secured national distribution and record deals for artists, including one who signed with RCA Inspiration (formerly Verity), a division of Sony. This opportunity led him to meet his mentor, industry veteran Stanley A. Brown, and subsequently move to New York City. In New York, Nolin's passion for creativity was tested and reaffirmed, reigniting his drive.
With over twenty years of industry experience, Nolin is known for his exceptional ability to manage industry affairs, making him a sought-after professional. His mission is to educate, inspire, and guide the current generation of creatives towards purpose and success, emphasizing the importance of education, inspiration, faith, and a genuine relationship with God. Due to his dedication to helping creatives, he has earned the title “Coach of Creatives,” and his mantra is: Freeing the creative to create through excellence, integrity, and a standard.
In 2018, Nolin returned to Nashville and worked for MNRK MUSIC GROUP (formerly Entertainment One) as Director of Marketing and Label Services. During his tenure, he served the Nashville divisions, including Light Records and IndieBlu Digital Distribution, before their closure. Nolin continues to support creatives through The Cre8tive Haus, a marketing and consulting agency he co-founded with his wife, Tiffany McPherson-Nolin.
